Art on the Street Event

The Arts Council of North Saint Paul invites you to join in the excitement as area artists take to the street in Downtown North Saint Paul and transform it into a colorful canvas of art.

Street painting, using pastel chalk as a medium, is an Italian tradition dating back to the 16th century.  This art form has delighted Western Europeans for years and is now growing in popularity in the United States.

On Saturday, May 31, artists will showcase their talents on six foot squares of asphalt sponsored by local businesses and organizations.  Several prizes will be awarded to the top entries including:  The Peoples’ Choice (1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prize gift certificates), and the Arts Council Award – a $300
Prize).  All art materials will be provided and all those participating in the event will receive an “Art on the Street” t-shirt.
